Say ‘Thank You’ Instead Of Just ‘Thanks’

Don’t just say ‘thanks.’ Make the effort to say ‘thank you.’

Saying ‘thank you’ in place of just ‘thanks’ means more.

Why? Because ‘thanks’ is missing the whole point of giving thanks – it‘s missing the recipient ‘you.’

Just saying ‘thanks’ is flippant and lazy.

Take for example if you hold the door for someone. Imagine that person replying to you by saying ‘thanks.’ (I’ve had plenty of people offer me no thanks at all.) Now imagine if that same person responds by saying ‘thank you.’ It’s a small change but it's often the small details that make the biggest difference.

When you want to give thanks to someone, look them in the eye and respectfully say ‘thank you’ to show you really mean it. It really does make a difference.
