2016 Summer Olympics

I haven’t followed the 2016 Summer Olympics closely but here are a couple stories that caught my interest.

Yusra Mardini, a Syrian refuge on the Refugee Olympic Team, trained at the pool in Syria on multiple occassions while bombs were dropped.

When you have a problem in your life, that doesn’t mean you have to sit around and cry like babies or something.

—Yusra Mardini featured on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

Well said.

Oksana Chusovitina, at 41 years old, competed in her 7th Olympic Games as a gymnast. Fact: most gymnasts retire by their early 20s.

Incredible.

We don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.

What I’m reading —

I’ve been enjoying Anything You Want (Goodreads Amazon) by Derek Sivers. It’s a short, fun read featuring life lessons and business advice accumulated over ten years growing and finally selling his own company.

Don’t be on your deathbed someday, having squandered your one chance at life, full of regret because you pursued little distractions instead of big dreams.
