Living in Complete Isolation
I watched VICE’s series ‘40 Years of Complete Isolation’ (parts 1, 2, 3, and 4). It chronicles a man who has lived alone for over 40 years in Patagonia, living off the land and the livestock he raises. Simple living to say the least. I found the reporting to be a bit light but overall it’s worth watching if living off the land is to your liking.
I also highly recommend Happy People: A Year in the Taiga (Wikipedia IMDB Amazon) by Dmitry Vasyukov and Werner Herzog. It follows the life of people living in the Siberian taiga and I found it enthralling, in part because it offers a glimpse of lives shaped by the Soviet Union.

You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.

This is one of my favorite quotes. It speaks truth. While the words we speak are certainly important, what we truly care about and who we really are is expressed through our actions.
