Disclaimer: if you don’t like automobilia, move along. In fact, that statement probably applies to this blog in general.
The Driver (the full title is The Driver: My Dangerous Pursuit of Speed and Truth in the Outlaw Racing World) by Alexander Roy of Gumball fame was hard to put down once I got through the first couple chapters. I was literally on the edge of my seat during such high-speed antics as The Battle of Rome (Roy’s terminology) between him and Spencer Bourne. However, while the actual driving sequences were incredible, it’s the look into the preparation done for the races and more so, the background on why Roy even competed that create a good story. In general, a finely crafted work and one I found quite enjoyable. If you find automobilia to your liking, I definitely recommend it.
